Role of the Chapter Advisor
The chapter advisor may supervise student efforts, give guidance or act as a
liaison, but ultimately, the operations of the chapter should be the responsibility
of the students. The basic responsibilities of the chapter advisor to create a
student-centered chapter follow:
- Assist in the plans for securing an efficient group of officers. Assist in setting up the criteria for candidates (grades, attendance, etc.) and train officer to perform their duties.
- Assist members in planning yearly activities (Program of Work). Set dates of events early in the school year and assist getting them on the school calendar early.
- Help set up adequate Chapter financial records and accounts.
- Counsel individual members and committees on problems and activities.
- Encourage participation of members in state and international conferences. Help students prepare for leadership activities and participation in competitive events activities on all levels.
- Keep the campus administration, the faculty, and the community posted on activities and developments.
