Business Law

Objective of the Event

Students will analyze a real–world case law situation that deals with marketing/business activity, then presenting solutions/recommendations to a professional (judge) with experience in business.

The following areas of business law may be covered in this event: contracts, sales and product liability, torts, agency/employment, intellectual property, cyber law, real and personal property, and the debtor–creditor relationship.

Learning Outcomes

  • Develop a heightened focus on a topic in Business Law.
  • Understand and appreciate the purpose of business regulation.
  • Demonstrate knowledge/understanding of case law.
  • Organize and communicate legal ideas and concepts effectively.
  • Use critical thinking skills to synthesize case law into workable material.
  • Accomplish objectives as a team.

Other Characteristics

  • This is a two–person event.
  • Students may use a lap–top computer in their presentation, but they are not required.
  • Additional visual presentation aids are also allowed.
  • Event has NO test.
  • Event includes the presentation of analysis to judge.
