Sales Representative
Objective of the Event
Students will demonstrate his/her ability to organize and deliver a sales presentation for a product(s) and/or service(s) of the student's choice by making the sales presentation to one or more potential buyers (judges). The ability of the student to interact with buyer(s) and initiate a purchase is the major focus of this event.
Learning Outcomes
- Collect information, obtain facts and ideas about the product(s) and/or service(s).
- Apply selling principles and techniques to the business environment.
- Understand the concept of feature/benefit selling.
- Demonstrate knowledge/understanding of customer/client needs.
- Organize and deliver an effective sales presentation.
- Close a sales presentation effectively.
Other Characteristics
- This is a one–person event.
- Prior to the conference the student will select the product(s) and/or service(s) to sell.
- Students must prepare a 15–minute presentation of the design; question and answer period is included in the 15–minute time limit.
- Event has NO test.
- Event includes the presentation to judge.
- Students are encouraged but not required to use presentation aids including computers and other technologies.
- Student must furnish his/her own materials, equipment, supplies, etc.
