Where to Find Potential Members
You may identify potential members from any of the following
categories. Ask your current members for additional places.
Classmates
No matter whether their classification, from freshmen
to seniors, or part-time and full-time, virtually any
student in your classes can benefit from Delta Epsilon
Chi. Look to class mates who take initiative in class—they
are likely to take initiative in further developing their
own abilities.
Don’t limit yourself to talking only to students
in your business classes. Remember that most students
have to take general courses, and you may find potential
members in any class on campus. Especially on university
campuses, pre-business majors may take few if any business
classes their first and second years.
Also remember that students from almost any major can
benefit from experiences in marketing, management and
entrepreneurship, from art majors who want to open their
own studio, to pre-law majors who want to open their own
law practice. Not to mention Delta Epsilon Chi programs
in non-business areas such as culinary arts and design.
Roommates
If you live in a dorm or an apartment, you know which
students are active and involved. Many chapters are developed
by friends in on-campus housing who are looking for an
active organization where they can develop their leadership
ability. Your most active members could be right next
door.
Former DECA Members
How about finding members who are already excited about
DECA/Delta Epsilon Chi? Find DECA members on your campus!
DECA members already know a lot about how DECA works and
how Delta Epsilon Chi can continue their career development.
DECA College Connection
Graduating DECA seniors enter their new school contact information
into our DECA College Connection database so that they can join a chapter that
exists on that campus, or so they can find other entering freshmen to help
start a new chapter. Email us at Kyle_Walton@deca.org to
include your chapter's contact information in our system. When a new student tells us they
will be on campus we will let you know so that you can contact them to be a part of your chapter.
