Competition Q & A
Delta Epsilon Chi advisors and student members may ask
a competitive event question directly to the Delta Epsilon
Chi Division Director.
Please make sure to:
1. be as specific as possible,
2. indicate whether you are a student or advisor, and
3. include your state/province/territory.
Questions and answers that could benefit other members
will be posted below as they come in. The person who asked
the question will not be identified. Please check before
asking, as the answer may already be on this page.
All answers that involve an interpretation of guidelines
are based on how the director would interpret the situation
at the International Career Development Conference. Guidelines
could be interpreted differently (such as at state conferences)
based on who is running that particular competition.
When you receive an answer, keep a copy of the email in
case the issue comes up during the competition process.
Above all, be proactive and always ask ahead of time.
Ask an Event Question
Questions and Answers (for International competition)
QUESTION: If my partner in my team event
can’t make it to competition, can I compete alone?
ANSWER: No if it requires a team of 2.
If the event allows 1-2 or 1-3 people and one of the teammates
drops out, the one(s) remaining can still compete.
QUESTION: If I make finals in an event
that has an exam, do I take the exam again?
ANSWER: No. The score from the exam you
took during the briefing/testing time is used for both
your preliminary competition and for finals. You just
do a different role-play for finals.
QUESTION: If I am in an event that includes
a written project, do I need to turn it in before the
conference?
ANSWER: No. You bring them to the event
briefing to be turned in to be penalty-pointed.
